Bullying Prevention Workshop at Cedar Drive Middle School
Today Creating Community Group presented its bullying prevention workshop to the 7th grade class at Cedar Drive Middle School. The workshop took place in the world language classrooms. Facilitators Britt, Katrina, Rana, and Todd lead the interactive workshop in groups of two. The lesson including an engaging discussion of the three types of bullying - physical, verbal, and cyber - as well as practice scenarios of how students can act as allies to victims of bullies. After watching movie clips of bullying situations, the 7th graders, practiced ways to be an ally by using the Creating Community Group's SRS (support, report, stand-up) response method to bullying situations.
At the conclusion of the session participants handed in Exit Tickets with statements about something they took away from the workshop. Examples of some are posted below.
Creating Community Group is a social entrepreneur team of young community activists dedicated to inspiring elementary, middle and high school students to become socially conscious and active citizens.
